Super Fare Oyunu: Today, TWA matches the other great systems in its super fare oyunu-luxury, first-class and tourist services. The super fare oyunu-luxury flights, New York to London and New York to Paris, bear the names London Ambassador and Paris Ambassador, whik , the standard first-class flights are Skyliners and the low-fare flights Sky Tourist. As with the other systems, the planes themselves, whatever one pays for passage, are all of the same first quality, type, size and operational standards. The difference is only in the number of seats, the type of meals served and the amount of free luggage allowed.Since the spring of 1954 (after earlier experiments and a necessary strengthening of the roadbed), a super fare oyunu-de luxe train (20 per cent surcharge above first-class fare) has been put into operation between Rome and Milan. It is called the ETR300 and is, in railroadese, an Electric Multiple Unit Train Set (Series 300). It has a special suspension system to absorb shocks and it looks and runs much like Germany's pride-of-the-rails, the Light Metal Articulated Diesel Train, running between Hamburg and Basel.
The super fare oyunu-luxury service is called Royal Viking de Luxe, the first class is Royal Viking and the tourist class Globetrotter. Like most of the other systems, SAS has a fly-and-drive tie-in with an overseas motor company, in this case for the rental of German-made cars, the standard Mercedes 220 and that popular and gas-thrifty midget, the Volkswagen. Like KLM this Scandinavian group features "extra-city trips in Europe for no additional fare." Capitalizing Scandinavian latitudes and snows it makes a special feature of its advertised sky-and-ski tours. |
