Streets And Trips: Many visitors enjoy'boat trips on the St. Lawrence or a cruise into the beautiful Saguenay River, 120 miles downstream. Also in the harbor area are to be found some of the city's oldest edifices such as the Chevalier house, the Notre Dame des Victoires Chapel, built in 1668, and the Place Royale, as well as some of the narrowest streets and trips, such as Sault au Matelot and Sous le Cap streets and trips.In spite of the public transportation availabl about 65% of all personal trips in the Criicag metropolitan area are made by automobile, pu ting a great burden on Chicago streets and trips and par! ing facilities. To meet these needs, seven parking garages and a number of expressway have been built in and around the city. Chicag was the first city to install rapid-transit lines i the medians of expressways, thus utilizing valu able space.
Field trips have many learning values. Usually it is best to have one or two definite purposes in making each trip. One fifth grade took a trip to the old Van Cortlandt Mansion to study colonial life and industries. They went to a bakery, to neighboring stores, and to a food exhibition to supplement their practical work in home economics. In order to derive the most benefit from field trips, the class should discuss beforehand what to look for and should summarize their findings after the trip. |
