Online Travel Guides: Travel + Leisure Magazine Names Winners of Second Annual Design Awards
Underscoring the significance of design in the traveler's world, the winners of the Travel + Leisure 2006 Design Awards have been announced today by Nancy Novogrod, editor-in-chief of Travel + Leisure, the world's leading travel magazine.
The second-annual awards are posted online travel guides and featured in the magazine's March issue, on newsstands February 21.
The winners, who will be celebrated at an event at the Cedar Lake Theater in NYC on February 15, were selected from among hundreds of nominations by a jury of six renowned experts in fashion, design and architecture: Barbara Barry, Michael Kors, Richard Meier, Alice Rawsthorn, Calvin Tsao, and Angela Westwater. The latest eight Notices are available online travel guides at http://pollux.nss.nima.mil. Of greater interest to boaters are Local Notices to Mariners issued by local Coast Guard Districts with information relating to inshore waters; requests to be placed on the mailing list should be sent to the appropriate District Headquarters. Local Notices of all Districts are available online travel guides www.navcen.uscg.mil. Only the latest edition of a chart should be used, as corrections will no longer be published for superseded editions.
A guidebook nugget: Tourist in Denmark is a pocket-sized handbook put out by the National Travel Association and the big Copenhagen newspaper Politiken, working in collaboration. I think it one of the most compact and easy-to-use guides of its type that I have ever seen. |
