Motels For Sale: Hotels are generally grouped in four main categories: commercial or transient hotels; resort hotels; residential hotels; and motels for sale, or motor hotels. In the United States about 75% of the hotel rooms (excluding motels for sale) are in commercial hotels, 16% in resort hotels (both summer and winter seasons), and the remaining 9% in residential hotels. About 80% of the American motel rooms are in commercial establishments and the remainder in resort motels for sale. There are two ways of selling postcards. The first, and in the long run the most profitable, is direct to the consumer, the tourist who writes "Having wonderful time. Wish you were here" on a collection of these cards and mails them to friends and relatives. The second method, which pays a bigger lump sum at the time of first sale but which does not provide the continuing income of the first, is to sell the pictures in postcard form to the owners of restaurants, hotels, motels for sale, and other business men who thrive on tourist trade and who give away such postcards, printed with their advertising, to customers.
In addition to commercial use of the skins, there was formerly a busy trade in the sale of baby alligators for so-called pets for children. The ruthless capture and sale of these small creatures naturally reduced the number of adults to the point where they were approaching extinction. It became necessary to protect them by law, and no more of the native young of the United States species can now be sold commercially. However, so-called baby alligators are still sold, especially in Florida, but they are baby caimans, which are a species of crocodile native to South America that are imported for sale here. |
