Mainz Germany: Germany. In Germany during the Romanesque period a combination of forms appeared, some drawn from German architecture of the Dark Ages, some from Byzantine precedent, and many from contemporary Lombard work. An instance of Byzantine influence is seen in the triple apses (two of them terminating the transepts) in St. Mary in the Capitol in Cologne (llth century).

Besides painting, he worked as a hydraulic engineer. He died at Halle, Germany, in 1528.
