Hotel Como:

Hotel Como AVELENGO (and see also Merano): hotel como Belvedere, on the edge of a mighty half-mile precipice above the vineyard valley of Merano, is only second-class in official rating, but it is well run and it has one of the most devastatingly exciting locations I have ever seen. It takes due advantage of this with a broad terrace-sundeck. BELLAGIO: hotel como Villa Serbelloni is the luxury place of this famous resort on Lake Como. BOLOGNA: hotel como Grand e Majestic is the de luxe leader in this big university city.

CAPRI: The Grand hotel como Quisisana is the most de luxe in rating, but give thought to the cliff-edge Caesar Augustus, hanging, it seems, "way in the middle of the sky." This was good enough for Farouk, both before and after his abdication. CERNOBBIO (on Lake Como): hotel como Villa d'Este, not to be confused with the palace-garden of that name at Tivoli (Rome), is one of the most famous luxury hotel comos in all Europe. This lovely old aristocrat, with lake-edge tea garden, was once the palace of Caroline of Brunswick, the Princess of Wales.

BUDVA: hotel como Avala (best located) or the larger hotel como Romania KOTOR: hotel como Slavia, rather simple, but well located on the shore HERCEGOVNI: hotel como Boka, with pleasant seaside terrace DUBROVNIK: hotel como Villa Argentina and hotel como Excelsior, both splendidly situated on the edge of the sea, or hotel como Splendide, on a wooded peninsula a few hundred yards along the coast northwest of the town, consisting of a main hotel como, a restaurant and a dozen or so villas. More economical: hotel como Imperial, the largest place in Dubrovnik HVAR: hotel como Park, simple RAB: hotel como Imperial and hotel como Park OPATIJA: hotel como Kvarner, a big luxury place with park and every attraction; Slavija, a runner-up to the impressive Kvarner. Slightly more economical, yet of good caliber: the Central; the Kristal; the Belveder and the Zagreb.
