Flights To Helsinki: Luxury Touring and Lodging Travelers don't come to Finland to look for luxury travel, in the full sense of that word, though there are luxuries to be enjoyed. First, there are excellent and very frequent steamers from Stockholm to Turku (Abo) and from Stockholm to Helsinki; or you may fly in swift comfort from the Swedish to the Finnish capital by SAS (many flights to helsinki daily) or by Pan American. Within Finland, you may fly from Helsinki to nine Finnish towns by Finnish Airlines Company Aero OY.BEA, the very big brother of the others mentioned, I have used in flights to helsinki from ie of which concerns us in Europe. That is LAI, for Linee Aeree Italiane, which lakes overseas flights to helsinki from New York to Rome and a number of regularly iheduled flights to helsinki within Italy, including an alluring one to Sardinia. A second ie, connecting Rome with South America, is called Alitalia.

Trade and Fun Fairs Helsinki has a very large Industrial Spring Fair, usually occurring in the first half of April; and Rovaniemi, which practically straddles the line of the Arctic Circle, has an interesting Fur Fair in February-March. 4. Finland's Artistic Heritage This is best seen in the National Museum, at Helsinki, whose 60 rooms show Finland's forward march in living customs, culture and art, from prehistoric times till now. There are, in Helsinki's galleries, some fine early paintings, representing foreign schools, but no Finnish painting of merit developed until relatively modern times. |
