Finnish Lapland:

Finnish Lapland You may cross without difficulty to or from Norway or Sweden, for the three northern neighbors cooperate to make things easy. Finnish Lapland has its own special charm, an element of which is certainly the 2000 semi-nomad Lapps, who devote their time to fishing and tending their reindeer herds. They seem to be more natural and less camera-conscious than do the Lapps of Sweden and Norway.

Luxury Touring and Lodging Travelers don't come to Finland to look for luxury travel, in the full sense of that word, though there are luxuries to be enjoyed. First, there are excellent and very frequent steamers from Stockholm to Turku (Abo) and from Stockholm to Helsinki; or you may fly in swift comfort from the Swedish to the Finnish capital by SAS (many flights daily) or by Pan American. Within Finland, you may fly from Helsinki to nine Finnish towns by Finnish Airlines Company Aero OY.

A still more ambitious tour, a bus-train-ferry combination, is the so-called Independent North Cape Tour. It carries from Stockholm to the very-far north through the whole of northern Sweden (this part by train); then through Finnish Lapland; then into Norway and clear up to the North Cape and Hammerfest (by ship from Hamnbukt to these points); and back by bus to Tromso and Narvik, returning thence by train to Stockholm. Linjebuss tours, in general, offer as pleasant a form of planned touring as you can find anywhere.
