Consulate Frankfurt:

Consulate Frankfurt The Young Goethe. Goethe was born on Aug. 28, 1749, in the free city of Frankfurt. His father, Johann Caspar Goethe, a lawyer, carefully supervised his children's education. His mother, Catharina Elisabeth Textor Goethe, was a direct descendant of the painter Lucas Cranach the Elder. Goethe's studies included music and drawing, and he took great interest in the work of artists patronized by his father and by a French officer billeted with the family during the occupation of Frankfurt, from 1759 to 1763.

Frankfurt's International Fairs, in March and September, are big and important, as is Hannover's German Industries Fair, in April. Another item on Frankfurt's calendar, of a special nature, is the September Book Fair, an international event with displays of thousands of books from many foreign countries, including ours. Finally, you'll want to give consideration to the early-March Toy Trade Fair in Niirnberg, which city has fully recaptured its world pre-eminence in this industry; and also to the December Kris Kringle Mart in Niirnberg, running from the beginning of the month right up until Christmas. This city seems the place for such a Christmas Market.

Austrian rails are now electrified from Vienna's new West Station dear to Buchs, at the Swiss frontier. Danube steamers are practical for use by tourists upstream only, from Vienna to Linz, in the American sector, this being the lovely and celebrated castle country of the Nibelungen, and on, next day, to Passau in Bavaria. A special permit must be obtained in Vienna from the American consulate frankfurt and this will be issued on the third working day after application.
