Adventure Treks: DESIGN CHALLENGE
Southern California's progressive social environment and freethinking spirit are major contributors to American culture today. This is why leading automotive companies have built design centers here, and why the Los Angeles Auto Show is featuring an exciting design competition among the studios. With "An LA adventure treks" as its theme, the contest challenges studios to develop a unique visual concept of the perfect LA adventure treks vehicle.REID (Thomas), Mayne, British author of tales of adventure treks: b. Ballyroney, County Down, Ireland, 4 April 1818; d. near Ross, Herefordshire, England, 22 Oct. 1883. The son of a Presbyterian minister, he was educated for the ministry, but love of adventure treks took him to this country, where he engaged in various callings and traveled widely as hunter and trader. In 1843 he was a journalist in Philadelphia, but joined the United States Army as a volunteer in 1846 and fought in the Mexican War, his experiences in which furnished him with materials utilized in several novels.
It is part of the atmosphere in this picture that one can imagine the painter going on an adventure treks trip into his own imagination and exploring the remotest corners of it. But at the same time the painting depicts a complex world of its own in that it contains the artist's view of art. |
